This is simply incredible work. You have an exceedingly rare gift for bringing history to life… and what an important gift this is. You honor your creator in using it the way you do.
What a treat to be able to read this, in this day and age at the End of History where everything is turned into an ever-renewing [Now], and the giants of yesteryear are used as Daemons by the priesthood of politics, to make us the peoples cower in fear of the scolding and the branding as an -ist or a -phobe.
Thank you for writing this.
If it's okay to make suggestion, if you're interested in fliers going up against impossible odds, I'd suggest trying to find something about the airmen of Finland (and their volunteer comrades in arms) during the Winter War. I have to apologise for not being able to suggest a title, militaria isn't my forte beyond the usual hodge-podge factoids and what goes into the greater topic of history.
A thought that struck me during the initial parts of the essay was:
"Is there a correlation between personality/character traits, and what specific branch or force a person feels an affinity for or takes an interest in?"
Some people are into submarines, some are treadheads, some look to the skies, and so on - are there common traits I wonder, and if there are, what would that signify?
